Spreadu at Way Up North Vienna

Way Up North Vienna was the first time we properly showed Spreadu Designer to the photography community.

And honestly, it was the perfect place to do it.

Way Up North has always felt like more than an event. It is a room full of photographers, ideas, honest conversations, and people who actually care about the future of the industry. The Vienna edition took place on May 5–6 at Stadtkino Wien, with the theme The Unsexy Stuff — the systems, workflows, and less glamorous parts of photography that help build better businesses. Pretty fitting for album design, really.

Over the two days, we showed Spreadu to more than 100 people.

The conclusion was simple: people love drag & drop.

That was the reaction we kept seeing. Once photographers saw how quickly they could move images, build layouts, adjust a spread, and keep control without fighting fixed templates, the idea clicked.

Album design does not need to feel slow or overcomplicated. It just needs to feel natural.

For us, Vienna was also a reminder of why being part of the community matters. You can launch software online, but nothing replaces showing it to real photographers, watching what they notice, hearing what they ask, and seeing which features make them smile.

Drag & drop definitely made them smile.

So thank you, Vienna. It was our first proper public demo, and it gave us a lot of confidence — and a lot of notes.
